Goal: Run 10 miles before the end of July and August
I've been trying to figure out a way to incorporate more objective goals into my workout. Last year I tried setting a goal of running the mile under a certain time. I saw no success in this and quickly abandoned the goal.
Tonight I was reading a blog by an author that I just came across. One of his goals was "Miles Ran." I thought to myself that this is a very objective way to challenge me to work out. I have to admit, working out this year has been very difficult. I have every excuse when I wake up to stay in bed. The fact of the matter is, I don't care at times. That concerns me because I need to stay in shape as I'm not getting any younger. Additionally, I have a little one that is full of energy.
This goal and the ease of tracking excites me. Granted, ten miles in a month is not that much. However, I'm probably doing around three, and that is on a good month. It is also my goal that by the end of October, I will be running twenty miles a month.
Here's to my first ten. Goodbye excuses.
